ChordBloom

Taste-first harmony, natural performance and theory-aware MPE expression.

INTERFACE VIEWSimple exposes the controls that matter most. Expert reveals detailed harmony, voicing, rhythm, MPE and theory controls.
MAKE IT
Chord Performance TheoryFULL LENGTH holds every voice for the complete harmonic slot (with Chord Length = 4, that is 4 beats / one 4/4 bar). NATURAL PLAY gives every voice a different grid-quantized release: common tones sustain, semitone/step resolutions stay connected, unresolved extensions breathe earlier, and large leaps get separation.

Metric anchorsStrong beats prefer chord tones. Tensions live on weaker subdivisions and are given a resolution target.
Controlled non-chord tones9ths/11ths/13ths come from the selected scale; chromatic neighbors appear only when Adventure/Tension justify them, then resolve by semitone.
Odd pitch cycles over 4/45/7/9/11-step note-order cycles create evolving electronic patterns while every MIDI onset stays on your selected grid.
Voice continuityCommon tones are preferred across chord changes and large leaps are penalized; octave displacement is deliberate and bounded.
Euclidean accent layerMaximally-even pulse masks shape accents and gate behavior without destroying harmonic anchors.
Deterministic variationSeeded cycle logic gives repeatable mutation rather than unbounded randomization.

Design references: Ableton Arpeggiator/MIDI Tools (pattern order, synced rate, gate, transposition); Bitwig Arpeggiator + Operators/Note Repeats (octave behavior, cycle/probability logic, Euclidean patterns); Godfried Toussaint’s work on maximally-even Euclidean rhythms.

What the MPE engine does: every sounding note receives its own member channel. Pitch uses per-note Pitch Bend, brightness uses CC74, and pressure uses Channel Pressure. Common tones stay calm; leading tones and semitone resolutions may glide toward their destination; unresolved extensions get more timbre movement; top voices are more expressive than bass notes. The exported MIDI includes MPE zone configuration and member-channel pitch-bend sensitivity.
